Whether you’ve already got a Kanken Classic and want to expand your collection, or you’re a total Kanken first-timer, there’s plenty of choice out there for you – almost too much choice.
One of the many alternatives to the archetypal Kanken is the Kanken Totepack, which, you guessed it, takes the classic design and inverts it to a tote-bag design.
You might be wondering exactly how that works. Well, this blog explains all.
How does the Kanken Totepack differ from the regular Kanken?
The only real difference is that the Kanken Totepack has an open top rather than the zip closure of the Kanken Classic. It has shoulder straps on the back, just like the Kanken Classic, so you can use it as a backpack when you’re not using it as a tote bag, or vice versa. That’s the beauty of it!
When full (or nearly full), the Kanken Totepack has that signature cuboid shape that everyone knows and loves. It’s just that little bit easier to use as a shopping bag, which is of course what many people are doing in these environmentally-conscious times.
What material is it made from?
The Kanken Totepack is made from the exact same fabric as the regular Kanken Classic: it’s called Vinylon F.
Put simply, Vinylon F is a hard-wearing synthetic material that Fjallraven themselves engineered. It comes with a water-resistant coating and is also dirt-resistant – so it’s more than up to the wear and tear of everyday life.
Which colours are available?
The Kanken Totepack may be the Kanken Classic’s lesser-seen sibling, but that doesn’t mean that it’s only available in a few colours. Quite the opposite.
Does it come in different sizes?
Currently, the Kanken Totepack comes in two sizes:
For ease of comparison, the regular-sized Kanken Classic is 16L, and the Kanken Classic Mini is 7L.
